Jeffrey going for a ride!

This was one of the two presents we gave Jeffrey for his birthday. (Our family philosophy is to keep holidays and birthdays small so that it's more about the day than the things.) He only goes in one direction right now, backwards. He doesn't have a good dismount either...more the "fall off the side" theory.
He was doing a little car maintainance here. Just to be safe.
I just love that smile! He's such a shamless flirt! But can you blame him with a face like that?

I've been jewelrying like crazy the last few days, I'll be taking pictures this weekend and posting them so you can all buy lots of new jewelry for the summer!!

Dance Recital

One last post on the blog-a-palooza! Saturday (which was Jeffers' birthday) was our Spring dance recital. I was so nervous and stressed and it was just a crazy, crazy time. The dress rehearsal went awfully, which made me hopeful for a good show. Which it was. They really pulled it off in the end. I'll have to post a few clips later when I get them up. My tiny dancers just played follow the leader, my older girls did a hard shoe dance (their first), and we all did a dance drama which was fun to put together. All in all, a fun time!
Jeffrey was a trooper. He's very patient to put up with his momma's crazy life. He sat and watched most of the dancing, laughin when the irish music came on. It's in his blood I swear!
Dancing the Sweets of May with my Beginner B and Intermediate dancers.
I liked this picture that cory took during dress rehearsal.
Oh the many expressions of Jeffrey.
My wiggy! I love the headbands that mum and Paige made. They looked so cute on everyone!
Jeffrey's favorite game during the recital pictures...up the stairs, down the stairs, up the stairs, down the stairs. Thanks to Paige for the cutest outfit on the planet!
My Intermediate dancers!
All of my dancers, I have 19 total. Some of them were in more than one dance so the were wearing their other costumes. They're so much fun to teach!

Amberg

On Mary's last day here we went to Amberg to finish some last minute shopping. It's a fun little town to shop in.
Everyone has these baskets here, it's easier than paying for your grocery bags every time you go to the store. Lots of ladies use them for church too.
Jeffrey was having Elton John aspirations. Actually if you could see the whole scene, you'd see me holding down both of his hands and telling him how cute it was just to get him to smile.
See, he didn't like them at all. I had to hold them onto his face. Silly kid!

Cory likes to take pictures of me, usually I hate them, I feel too ugh about them. I was talking to him the other day and realized that I have a very negative body image. I really have been trying to fix that. But anyway, it was another beautiful day in Germany.

Salzburg, Austria

So as part of our travelpalooza last week, we went down to Salzburg, Austria for two days. (Then had to rush home since I had sharing time on Sunday!) It's a beautiful town, but very touristy and very pricey! That's my euroscarf. I got it to blend in with the locals. Europeans are a funny lot. In Germany they seem to be trying to be Americans and doing it in an odd way.
Poor Jeffers needed some non-stroller time. So we walked to some gardens where there was actually a "Zauberflote" park...which is think translates to the magic flute...since Salzburg is Mozartville!
Daddy and I had almost as much fun as he did. We bought him a baby size buff. It was so sunny and his head is HUGE and wouldn't fit in the hat I bought just a few months ago. He was so funny! You'd have to put it on and distract him until he forgot he was wearing it.
I know you can't see it from this angle. But these are the statues in the park with the fountain that was in the Sound of Music. I think when they were singing Doe a Deer...I would have known more if we'd gone on the sound of music tour, but I'm cheap and decided to spend my 38 Euro else where!
Peeps, can I pick hotels or can I pick hotels? This one was GORGEOUS! We were on the third floor in an apartment with two rooms with a balcony. Perfect for enjoying the Austrian countryside. (This is on Moosstrasse if you ever want to go!)
A view from across the bridge at the hill and the old town. Breathtaking, no? We wandered all down the bank of that river and all through the town. Then we people watched for about fourty-five minutes. I love people watching.
Beans in one of his happier moments. Poor kid got stroller-crazy after a while.
A Church tower in the old town.
This is a shout out for all my former band peeps. There's Mozart's birth house. I didn't go in...again I'm cheap and there were lots of stairs. Stairs + Stroller = No way!
And because we all know that I feel like the dad and lad leisure suit days should never have gone away. I bought them matching outfits. That's right people, I am one of those moms/wives. But isn't that a sweet picture? My two guys!
There ARE NOT pictures on here of the parking space we used. That's because it was in the MOUNTAIN and I was freaking out the entire time. I am claustrophobic and it was all I could do not to have a panic attack right there. It was very cool though. Creepy and enclosed, but cool.

Rothenburg, Again

Can I say that Rothenburg is becoming my new favorite place to visit? I love it, it's like a storybook town only real. We went last week (which seems like a hundred years ago) again and had such a good time. The weather was beautiful and it was nice. Only not so hot thing was my allergies which had me squinting my eyes half the night with itchiness!

Jeffrey decided that he should be pushing the stroller rather than riding inside. Apparently after two hours in the car he needed a break!
Can you even find anything like this in America? I don't think so! It's just so picturesque! I wish I could live here forever and just meander through the streets.
Even the pigeons enjoy it. I think they were enjoying a drink from the St. George fountain.

This is underneath their Rathaus (which is their government house, but I always chuckle at myself at the oddly truthful translation!).
I just love the houses, they remind me of all the versions of Cinderella I've seen.
The view from the gardens just outside the wall. (note the burning bush...teehee!)
This is the view from the wall back to the other part of the town.
I just love it! I want to live there forever!

Birthday Party

Want to know how Jeffrey's birthday party went?

I guess you can't expect too much for a first birthday can you? It was funny, we tried to get him to lay down and sleep all day long! He just wouldn't do it though. We had a fun web-birthday with my parents (and the cute twinnies, Aunt Paige, Sugar and Bampa).

He loved this book the my friend Mistee sent. She also sent him a U shirt. (In her words he needs to represent for the U!)

He decided that the paper would be good to eat rather than tear.

Cory's camera has the pictures of Jeffrey eating his cake...or rather poking at it with his fingers. It was pretty funny. We learned a valuable lesson about hosting a party with various people invited...some people's children are much more polite than others. I want Jeffrey to be polite and not spill things at other people's houses.

We went to the doctor today and found out that he's got bronchitis. I had no idea. What a winner of a parent I am this week. He had a cough but that was about it. He's 23 lbs and 30.5 inches tall.

The other exciting thing that happened this week was changing his carseat around. We did it right before our many road trips, I think he likes it better. Though he still sleeps like that.

Chaos Inc.

So we've had a crazy two weeks. Today is our dance recital as well as Jeffrey's first birthday and Mary just left yesterday so we've been busy busy bees!

I'm sure in the next two weeks we'll have more time to post about our goings-on, but here's a look back at a year ago today!
Here I am several hours after he was born. My cheeks were so red, I think because at the end I was screaming for such a long time.
15 hours of drug-free labor is pretty exhausting. I needed sleep. I was slightly narcoleptic that day.
Sugar was there to take care of him, I was so thankful that my mom could be there, I needed some woman power in the delivery room!
My chubbsy faced babe. Thankfully his face is rather more proportionate now, but I still love this picture of him.

New Face to Old Photos

I have been looking through the photos that Dad sent to me to find ways to retouch them, and in this case, get a bit creative. I used Adobe Lightroom to make the colors I wanted and then sent them to Adobe Photoshop for the watercolor effect. The photos look their best and give the full water color effect when you click on them to open them up in their own browser window.

Most of these pictures are of Brian. In the back of this scene is the old fire place that used to occupy the kitchen. I recall filling up many wheelbarrows in the winter time with wood to be stacked on the front porch to keep this monster going.

Once I looked at the photo I can acually remember being in this bucket of water taking a cool bath on Grandma MacNeil's back lawn one summer.

I am holding up a funnel that Grandma MacNeil had in her bottom kitchen drawer. I was facinated by the shape and would pull it out often to play with it. Here I am featured with it in the impromptu tub.

This is Brian in the photo, but I do recall very well putting many summer hours behind weeding implements.

The IML truck made for a good seat that doubled as a toy.

I have a picture just like this posted on the blog of Jeffrey playing inside of his dresser drawer.

Both Brian and I put in endless hours rocking on this horse, although I cannot recall where it was usually located.

As far back as it is, I can recall playing with the beads on this chair and the plastic feel of the material. My recollections must be from on older self having found the chair in the basement.

This may be the first summer that we had the Troy Built tiller. We all put countless hours behind that machine.

Growing pumkins was fun because we knew that at Halloween we would carve them and put them out on the porch with candles.
