die Nahrungsmittel

Germany has a very distinct culture when it comes to eating. A typical breakfast consists of all types of breads with jams, cheeses and sliced meats, along with a soft boiled egg and a small glass of juice. Many meals are eaten outside of restaraunts and cafes in the summer time. Pull up a seat and stay for a while. There is no rush in the German culture to eat and get out.

I believe that there is something to what you said. "Pull up a seat and stay awhile". We don't do that here. I found that to be a truly fascinating part of the trip. And most enjoyable. Eating al fresco really gave me more of a sense of connection with the locale.
